The Significance of Kumbh Vivah and Ark Vivah

In Vedic astrology, if a person has a severe Mangal Dosh or a combination of planets indicating early widowhood or severe marital discord, a symbolic marriage is prescribed. For women, this is called Kumbh Vivah, and for men, it is Ark Vivah.

During Kumbh Vivah, the girl is ceremonially married to an earthen pot (Kumbh) or a Vishnu idol. The pot is then broken or immersed in a river, symbolizing the "death" of the first husband and absorbing the dosha completely.

• Presence of Vish Kanya Yoga.
• Severe afflictions to the 7th house of marriage.
